Governor Evers approves US 61 improvements, Grant County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $12.5 million contract to reconstruct US 61 between Hickory Lane in Dickeyville and Alona Lane in Lancaster in Grant County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin March 20, 2023.

H. J. & Sons is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to construct a roundabout at US 61/WIS 81 intersection to improve safety, additional improvements include adding passing lanes and intersection improvements along the project corridor.

During construction, US 61 will remain open to traffic under flagging operations. Motorists are advised delays to traffic are anticipated.

Project completion is scheduled for November 2023.The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.

A public meeting will take place on March 20, 2023 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Lancaster Youth and Agricultural Center, 916 E Elm Street, Lancaster. This meeting is for the public to ask questions regarding construction, schedule and traffic impacts.
