WisDOT holding preconstruction meeting for WIS 65 project

​Work on resurfacing,​​ safety improvement project set to begin this spring

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a preconstruction meeting for an upcoming construction project on WIS 65 from North Jewell Street in the St. Croix County village of Star Prairie to US 8 in the Polk County town of Balsam Lake.

The public is invited to attend to learn about construction impacts and the planned detour and ask questions of staff.

When: 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 27

  • A short presentation is planned for 6:15 p.m.

To address pavement deterioration and safety concerns, WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Improve the driving surface by milling and overlaying the asphalt pavement.
  • Create a narrow, paved shoulder.
  • Reconstruct three areas of hills.

Construction is expected to begin this spring, with project completion this fall. During construction, WIS 65 will be closed to through traffic and detoured via WIS 64, WIS 46 and US 8. Local access will be maintained.
