Work replaces pavement from County C to Laser Drive, utilities in town, village of Somerset

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $7.99 million contract with prime contractor A-1 Excavating of Bloomer for a pavement replacement project on WIS 35 from County C in the town of Somerset to Laser Drive in the village of Somerset in St. Croix County. Construction is scheduled to start Wednesday, April 26.
The pavement on this segment of WIS 35 has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
Replace the pavement from County C to Laser Drive.
Upgrade the WIS 35/Church Hill Road/Main Street intersection and add new traffic signals.
Replace and upgrade utilities.
WIS 35 will be closed to through traffic from the Church Hill Road/Main Street intersection to Laser Drive when work starts, and traffic will be detoured via Lagrandeur Road, Lemire Street, SMC Drive and Laser Drive. Access will be maintained to residences and businesses in the work zone.
Construction is scheduled for completion in late October.
