Release date: May 1, 2023
Maintenance crews from the Jackson County Highway Department plan to seal cracks on I-94 from Hixton to Northfield beginning Monday, May 8.
Crack sealing is an effective method to help keep water from intruding into the granular base of a roadway, reducing the potential for premature distress of the pavement. The goal is to extend serviceable life of the roadway.
Crack filling operations are expected between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Jackson County crews plan to start on westbound I-94 and then move to the eastbound side of the interstate, with hopes of finishing by Memorial Day.
During crack-filling operations, I-94 will be open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures where crews are working.
Schedules are dependent on weather conditions and subject to change.
