To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has signed a $6.5 million contract for resurfacing along WIS 20 in Racine County, from WIS 36 in Waterford to US 45 southbound near Yorkville.
Work and closures began on Monday, May 1. Musson Brothers, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:
Project Improvements
- Improve ride quality by resurfacing approximately 7.9 miles of roadway
- Culvert pipe replacement
- High Friction Surface Treatment on the horizontal curve at County D (Washington Ave.)
- New roundabout construction at intersection of WIS 20 and US 45 northbound (Raynor Ave.)
What to Expect
- Beginning May 1, WIS 20 will be closed to through traffic (traffic without a destination within the work zone) during construction.
- Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
Detours
- WIS 20 detour utilizes WIS 36/WIS 83, to WIS 11, to US 45 northbound
- US 45 northbound detour utilizes WIS 20, to I-41, to WIS 100, to US 45 southbound
Construction is scheduled for completion in early fall 2023, weather permitting.
Please note an adjacent project on WIS 20 from southbound US 45 to County C will begin in mid-June. Construction for that project is also scheduled for completion in 2023, weather permitting.
