Governor Evers approves WIS 95 bridge replacement project

​​​​Work replaces 87-ye​ar-old structure in Jackson County village of Merrillan

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $2.17 million contract with prime contractor Sheet Piling Services of Custer for the replacement of the WIS 95 bridge over the east fork of Halls Creek in the Jackson County village of Merrillan. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, May 15.

Built in 1936, the bridge has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:

  • Replace the bridge.​

  • Replace the pavement on both sides of the structure.

  • Replace guardrail.

  • Replace the pavement markings.

During construction, WIS 95 will remain open to a single lane of traffic at the bridge controlled by temporary traffic signals.

Construction is scheduled for completion in September.​
