Release date: May 30, 2023
To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $4.99 million contract with prime contractor Northwoods Paving of Ashland for a resurfacing project on US 2 from Government Road in New Odanah to the Ashland/Iron County line. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 5.
To address deteriorating pavement and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
- Resurface US 2.
- Line, repair or replace culverts.
- Reconfigure US 2 to add left-turn lanes at the Bad River Lodge & Casino.
- Place new pavement markings.
During construction, US 2 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.
Construction is scheduled for completion in September.
