WisDOT holding public involvement meeting on WIS 13 project

​​Proposed work in city​ of Washburn includes reconstructing street and replacing utilities

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to obtain input on a proposed reconstruction project on WIS 13 (Bayfield Street) from Washington Avenue to Superior Avenue in the Bayfield County city of Washburn.

      When: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 17

    • A presentation is set for 5:30 p.m.

      Where: The Club, 3 W. Bayfield St., Washburn

​The existing pavement on WIS 13 is reaching the end of its life. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Reconstruct WIS 13 (Bayfield Street) with concrete pavement over base aggregate over subbase material.
  • Replace curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer.
  • Replace/upgrade all intersection curb ramps to meet Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

In addition, the city plans to replace sanitary sewer, streetlights and water main.

Construction is scheduled for 2026. During construction, WIS 13 will be closed to through traffic.
