Release date: August 16, 2023
The start of a project replacing the 87-year-old bridges carrying WIS 79 over Coon Creek and Clack Creek between Menomonie and Boyceville in Dunn County has been pushed back a week to Monday, Aug. 28.
Built in 1936, the existing structures have reached the end of their service lives. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:
- Remove and replace the bridges.
- Replace the roadway pavement on both sides of the structures.
- Replace guardrail, signage and pavement markings.
During construction, WIS 79 will be closed to through traffic.
- Through traffic will be detoured to US 12, WIS 25 and WIS 170.
- Local traffic will be maintained from the north and south sides of bridge locations.
Larson Construction Co. of Chippewa Falls is the prime contractor for the $2.07 million project. Construction is scheduled for completion in November.
