Structure to remain open to westbound traffic; interchange ramps also will be available
Release date: September 15, 2023
Both eastbound lanes of County OO will be closed on the bridge over US 53 in Chippewa County for the next two weeks, excluding the weekends, so structure rehabilitation work can be completed. The westbound lanes on County OO and interchange ramps will remain open. Eastbound lane closures on the bridge are planned from:
- 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22.
- 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.
Eastbound County OO traffic needing to cross the bridge will be detoured via southbound US 53 to the Melby Street interchange to northbound US 53 to the exit ramp at the County OO interchange.
Motorists on US 53 also might encounter single-lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. if needed, so work can be done safely.
The lane closures are part of a construction project to repair the County OO bridge, which was struck and damaged in February by a logging truck traveling underneath it on northbound US 53.
Construction began Sept. 5, and the project is scheduled for completion in November.
