Rider education
We believe that the majority of motorcycle crashes are avoidable. It is highly recommended that all motorcycle operators take a rider education course. We believe that through rider education, rider self assessment, proper coaching and timely tips, trained riders can remove many factors that can lead to a crash.
Note - Not all of the following courses may be available at each training site, or in all geographic regions. Please contact your
local training site or
Wisconsin Motorcycle Training to find out which courses are offered.
Learning to ride
The Basic RiderCourse
A great start to learn the basic skills needed to operate a motorcycle. The successful completion of the course includes the use of an E-course, approximately five hours of classroom activities and 10 hours of motorcycle / Scooter riding exercises. This course gives the student the opportunity to obtain their waiver of the road test at the DMV, when applying for the Motorcycle License.
The 3-Wheel Basic RiderCourse (3WBRC)
The best place for new riders to start once they have made the decision to ride a three-wheel motorcycle. This course includes approximately five hours of classroom and eight hours of on-cycle riding exercises.
The Basic RiderCourse2 (BRC2)
For riders who already possess basic riding skills and are either returning to riding or are seeking a refresher course to practice and renew basic riding skills. The course includes approximately three hours of classroom and five hours of on-cycle riding exercises. This course may also be used to waive the road test when applying for the Wisconsin Motorcycle license, as long as the student also completes the E-Course.

Specialized courses
The Introductory Motorcycling Experience (IME)

The Safe Motorcyclist Awareness and Reaction Trainer (SMARTrainer)
The SMARTrainer teaches basic motorcycle controls, enhances hazard awareness, and helps riders respond quickly to roadway and environmental factors in a safe and controlled motorcycle-trainer environment.
