Local Program Low Risk Pilot

​WisDOT, in collaboration with Federal Highway Association and Wisconsin counties, is continuing the efforts to reduce cost by streamlining delivery and oversight processes on low complexity Local Projects in the Surface Transportation Program-Rural, Surface Transportation Program-Urban and Local Bridge Improvement Program that have been identified as:

  • Having minimal to no environmental impacts
  • Having mini​mal or no right of way, utility or railroad ​impacts

The thirty-one projects chosen were already approved in the 2020-2025 Local Program Cycle. Projects are funded with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent local match. Guidance regarding the current Low-Risk Project Delivery program is now available.
