Adobe Acrobat PDF files (.pdf)

The PDF format is modeled after the PostScript language and is device and resolution independent. Publications in the PDF format can be viewed, navigated and printed from a workstation using the freely available Adobe Reader software from Adobe Systems, Inc. Versions of Adobe Reader run on DOS, Windows, Macintosh and Unix systems.

You can download the Adobe Reader free of charge.

If you are having trouble opening or using PDF files on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation web site, please make sure you have the most recent version of Adobe Reader installed. Most PDF files on this site are best viewed with Adobe Reader 6.0 or higher.

EPUB

EPUB is a free and open ebook standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum. EPUBs can be opened on many different eReaders and software. Some examples are “iBooks” for iOS devices and “Aldiko” for Android devices.

If your device does not have an eReader for EPUB files, you can download free eReader software.

Microsoft Excel Viewer

If you do not have Microsoft Excel 2000 or higher, you may use Microsoft Excel viewer to view Excel files. This product, available free of charge, is a viewer only and does not allow you to make changes to Excel files.

Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer

If you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or higher on your machine, you may use Microsoft PowerPoint viewer to view PowerPoint files. This product, available free of charge, is a viewer only and does not allow you to make changes to PowerPoint files.

Microsoft Word Viewer

If you do not have Microsoft Word: use Microsoft Word viewer to view Word files. This product, available free of charge, is a viewer only and does not allow you to make changes to Word documents.

MOBI

Mobi, short for “Mobipocket,” is an ebook format and can be viewed using a Kindle, Kindle apps or Mobipocket Reader.

If you do not have a Kindle, Mobipocket reader or a Kindle app on your device, you can download free Kindle apps.

MP3 audio file

If you do not have an MP3 player, you may need to download a player to listen to MP3 audio files.

Windows Media Player

If you do not have a video player on your machine that can play these videos, you may use Windows Media Player. This product is available free of charge.

WinZip

If you do not have software to unzip these files, you may download WinZip for a free 30-day evaluation period.
