The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is in the process of developing plans for proposed improvements along US 151 and WIS 55 in Calumet County. This website provides information regarding the purpose and need for the improvements, shows the proposed improvements, describes the potential impacts it would have on the community, and offers an opportunity for public comment.
Project location
- Eight structures on US 151 and WIS 55 between the South County Line to the north village limits of Stockbridge in Calumet County, Wis.

Project handout
WisDOT has created a public handout for this project. Please feel free to download, print, and share with anyone who does not have access to this website.
Purpose and benefit
Eight culverts along the project are deteriorating. If not replaced, the structures will continue to deteriorate causing additional future maintenance costs. This project will decrease future maintenance costs and provide adequatz structures to provide proper drainage of water.
Proposed improvements
Proposed traffic impacts
Work is proposed to be conducted under a full closure and through traffic will be detoured.
- Access to properties, businesses, homes and first responders will be maintained during construction.
- The proposed detour routes are as follows:
- US 151: Detour uses County HHH and County C
- WIS 55 (Structures south of County E): Detour uses US 151 to County E
- WIS 55 (Structures north of County E): Detour uses County E to WIS 114
Real estate
Right-of-way acquisition will be required at each of the culvert replacement locations. The proposed structure replacement just south of the BP gas station will require acquisition of the residential duplex property adjacent to the highway. A member of our real estate team will contact you if your property is affected.
Section 4(f) Property
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has regulations governing the use of land from publicly owned parks, recreation areas, wildlife and waterfowl refuges, and public or private historic sites. These sites are called Section 4(f) properties. The Stockbridge Legion Fireman Community Park, which is adjacent to the project, is a Section 4(f) property. As a result of proposed right-of-way acquisition necessary for the proposed improvements, WisDOT intends to make a
de minimis impact determination.
