​Loc​ation​

​Black River Bridge on WIS 64 west of Medford in the Taylor County town of Hammel.

​​​​Overvie​w

The bridge deck is showing signs of deterioration, and other elements of the structure are in need of maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:

  • Replace the bridge deck.
  • Add concrete approach slabs, which provide a transition between the roadway and the bridge.
  • Add new expansion devices and down drains.
  • Clean and paint bearings.
  • Spot paint the girders.
  • Replace portions of guardrail.

Sche​​dule

​Construction is scheduled for 2024.

Traf​​fic Impacts

WIS 64 will be closed and detoured during construction.

  • Traffic will be detoured via County O and County Q.
  • Access will be maintained to property owners on either side of the bridge.
