Location
US 10 at its intersection with the north leg of WIS 25 west of Durand in the Pepin County town of Waubeek.
Overview
The intersection has a crash history. To reduce the number and severity of crashes, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation - after considering an all-way stop, roundabout and traffic signal - is proposing to:
- Install a single-lane roundabout at the intersection.
- Roundabouts reduce the number of conflict points and eliminate high-speed crashes where a driver misjudges the distance for speed of the approaching vehicles while making left turns.
Real Estate
Temporary and permanent right-of-way acquisition might be required to reconstruct the intersection. Real estate plans are scheduled to be finalized in August 2024.

Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2026.
Traffic Impacts
Construction will be completed in stages to allow US 10 and WIS 25 North to stay open to traffic, but motorists might encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.
Public Involvement
WisDOT held a public involvement meeting to discuss the proposed improvements and gather input on Dec. 6, 2023. However, people can still provide comments through Jan 2, 2024.
