US 2 (Fish Creek Bridges), town of Barksdale and town of Eileen - Bayfield County


​​​Loc​​ation

The project involves the two bridges over Fish Creek on US 2 between WIS 13 North and the city of Ashland in the Bayfield County towns of Barks​d​ale and Eileen.

Overvie​​w​

The piers on both bridges are exposed due to erosion along Fish Creek because of stream flow in and out of Chequamegon Bay. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:

  • Place heavy stone in the waterway to stabilize bridge piers and prevent further erosion.

  • Replace guardrail on the roadway approaches.

Sc​​hedule

Construction is scheduled for 2024.

Traffic I​mpacts

Traffic will be maintained on US 2 during construction, but temporary single-lane closures will be required to complete the work.
