US 53 Southbound (County Y to County M), town of Gordon - Douglas County


Locatio​n

The proposed project on southbound US 53 extends from County Y north to County M in the Douglas County town of Gordon.

Overvie​​w

The pavement on US 53 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this, WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Repair the concrete pavement.
  • Place a 4-inch asphalt overlay over the travels lanes and shoulders.
  • Repair or replace culverts.
  • Replace guardrail at the St. Croix River Bridge.
  • Remove roadside brush and trees.
  • Place pavement markings.

Schedu​​le

Construction currently is scheduled for 2026.

  • Work could occur as early as 2025 if the funding becomes available.

Traf​​fic

During construction, US 53 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane and shoulder closures.
