Location
US 8 from the Minnesota/Wisconsin state line in the town of St. Croix Falls east to Glacier Drive in the city of St. Croix Falls, all in Polk County.
Overview
Built in 1956, this segment of US 8 has begun showing signs of deterioration. To address this and safety concerns for the US 8/WIS 87 intersection, the proposed project will:
- Mill off a portion of the existing pavement and placing new asphalt pavement.
- Perform maintenance on two sedimentation ponds, which will require tree clearing.
- Add an offset right-turn lane for westbound US 8 traffic at the WIS 87 intersection.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029, but work could occur in 2025 if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
US 8 will remain open to traffic throughout construction using lane closures and staged construction. In addition, access to all properties in the work zone will be maintained during construction as feasibly possible.
