Location
The proposed 7.9-mile project extends from the Douglas/Bayfield County line to County A in Port Wing, all in Bayfield County.
Overview
To address deteriorating pavement, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
Removing 1.5 inches of existing pavement and overlaying the roadway with 1.5 inches of new pavement.
Repairing abutments on the bridges over the Iron River and Fish Creek and adding riprap around the abutments.
Adding shoulder gravel.
Replacing guardrail.
Placing new pavement markings.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2026.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 13 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:
Single-lane closures controlled by flagging for resurfacing and bridge maintenance work.
Shoulder closures for bridge maintenance work.
Delays when traveling in the work zone.
Access will be maintained to properties in the work zone that don't have alternate access.
