Location
WIS 64 corridor, 150th Avenue (town of St. Joseph) to WIS 65 (New Richmond) in St. Croix County.
Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) conducted a freeway/expressway designation and preservation study for WIS 64 between 150th Avenue and WIS 65 in St. Croix County.
The purpose and need for the study was to:
- Preserve the WIS 64 corridor by:
- Preserving regional mobility.
- Maintaining long-term safety and operations on WIS 64.
- Preserving the public investment in the WIS 64 freeway/expressway that was previously constructed.
- Develop a long-term plan for the WIS 64 freeway/expressway in concert with local land use.
The designation and preservation study was initiated in 2009 and included coordinating local and resource agencies, preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) and holding a public hearing. Following the latter, additional coordination and alternative identification work occurred for the section between the Apple River and 110th Street.
Currently, there are no plans to expand WIS 64 to the east.
