Project location
Overview
The purpose of the proposed project is to address the deteriorating road condition and decreased ride quality of WIS 241 (27th Street) between College Avenue and Layton Avenue.
WIS 241 was originally constructed in the 1930s. Multiple maintenance overlays have been performed in 1949, 1965, 1989 and 2010. Portions of the roadway were widened in 1965 and 1989.
To address the deteriorating pavement condition and the decreased ride quality along WIS 241 (27th St.) the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to mill 4-inches of the existing asphalt off of the roadway, base patch and joint/crack repairs where needed, and then overlay the roadway with 4-inches of new Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA).
Traffic Impacts
Traffic control during construction has not yet been determined. Efforts will be made to minimize traffic impacts, including congestion, delays and queuing. Impacts to transit may involve temporarily closing or relocating bus stops. Accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists will be provided.
