Project overview

The purpose of this project is to preserve and rehabilitate structures that convey traffic along I-90 eastbound and westbound lanes and Bainbridge Street pedestrians crossing over I-90.

WisDOT is seeking public input regarding improvements to the Bainbridge Street bicycle/pedestrian crossing. Three alternatives have been identified:

Alternative 1: Rehabilitate Existing Bridge (Preferred)

Concrete Deck Replacement
Paint steel surfaces
Repair all defective concrete on abutments, piers, and parapets
New LED lighting
New concrete sidewalk

Alternative 2: New Pedestrian Bridge

Remove existing pedestrian structure
Construct new pedestrian structure
Purchase additional right of way and construct new approaches

Alternative 3: County B New Pedestrian Bridge

Remove existing pedestrian structure
Construct new pedestrian facility along County B from Olivet Court to Fanta Reed Road
Add raised sidewalk on existing County B structure
Purchase additional right of way along County B for pedestrian facility
