WIS 16 (0.5 miles E of I-90 to W. Hazel Ave), Sparta - Monroe County
Project overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) plans to resurface this 6.38-mile stretch of WIS 16. This project is needed to treat existing pavement distresses and is part of WisDOT's Highway Safety Improvement Program. The intent of this project is to extend the pavement's service life and decrease the potential for crossing centerline and roadway departure crashes along this corridor.
Additional improvements include:
- Regrade slopes around the Silver Creek Bridge.
- Mill and relay 4 inch of existing asphalt pavement.
- Pave 3 ½ inches of new asphalt pavement.
- Increasing paved shoulder width from 3 feet to 5 feet. This added pavement width will not extend beyond the existing gravel shoulder.
- Replacing existing guardrail.
- Add centerline and shoulder rumble strips.
