WIS 71 (County V to WIS 80), Kendall to Elroy - Juneau and Monroe counties
Project overview
WisDOT is proposing to improve 9.73 miles of WIS 71. The existing pavement is aged and deteriorated with patching, alligator cracking, and edge cracking throughout the corridor. Proposed improvements include:
- Mill 3.5-inches of the existing pavement and overlay the remaining pavement with 4-inches of asphaltic pavement
- Remove and replace the pavement through the Village of Kendall
- The Village of Kendall will also replace sanitary and water utilities as a separate project
- Install ADA compliant curb ramps along WIS 71 through the Village of Kendall
- Replace outdated guardrail and end terminals at multiple locations along WIS 71 with beam guard meeting current safety standards
- Replace seven (7) cross drains throughout the length of the project
Schedule
- October 2022 - Public Involvement
- Spring/Summer 2026 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
WIS 71 will remain open to traffic for the duration of construction. WIS 71 will be closed to traffic and detoured during structure replacement.
