To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has signed a $1.4 million contract for resurfacing improvements along WIS 83 in Waukesha County, from the Oconomowoc River to County Line Road.
This project builds upon current work being conducted just north on WIS 83, from County Line Road to WIS 167. Work and closures are scheduled to begin May 8, weather permitting. Payne & Dolan is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:
Project Improvements
- Resurfacing approximately 2.75 miles of roadway
- Curb and gutter and concrete barrier installation near Kilbourne Road
- Guardrail replacements
- New pavement markings and signs
What to Expect
- Beginning May 8, WIS 83 will be closed to through-traffic from County VV to WIS 167 (traffic without a destination within the work zone) until the project is complete. Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
- A signed detour route utilizes WIS 16, WIS 190, WIS 164, WIS 167.
- Temporary signals with only one lane of traffic will be utilized near Kilbourne Road
- Removal of the pedestrian bridge over the Oconomowoc River and installation of sidewalk on the roadway bridge
Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-summer 2023. The project schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
