Governor Evers approves US 51 improvements, Dane County

Release date: May 8, 2023

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $2.5 million contract to repair the pavement on US 51 between East Washington Avenue and Pierstorff Road in the city of Madison, Dane County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin May 15.

Zignego Company, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to replace deteriorating pavement along US 51, as well as curb ramp improvements.

During construction, US 51 will remain open to traffic with single lane closures in both directions.

Project completion is scheduled for September 1, 2023. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
