Changes in traffic control set for WIS 25 work zone over weekend

Motorists should expect delays if traveling between Nelson and Wabasha, Minn.

One of three sets of temporary traffic signals on WIS 25 between the Minnesota state line and 100 feet south of the highway's southern intersection with WIS 35 in the Buffalo County village of Nelson will be removed the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 15.
Motorists should expect significant delays over the weekend because of the two remaining sets of signals controlling a single lane of traffic on the northbound lane through the work zone, where bridge approach work is being completed. In addition, traffic is expected to be heavier because of the 58th annual Flood Run set for Saturday. Non-local traffic might want to consider alternate routes.
The asphalt on this segment of WIS 25 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation plans to:

• Remove a portion of the existing pavement and place new asphalt pavement.
• Add centerline and shoulder rumble strips.
• Adjust guardrail.
• Complete bridge approach work.
• Place new pavement markings.

Once work on the southbound lane is complete, crews will shift traffic to the southbound lane, so work can be completed on the northbound.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late October.
