Celebrate Children Foundation license plates

The Celebrate Children Foundation recognizes the critical importance of ensuring every child in Wisconsin grows up with safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments. The Foundation works to support statewide efforts by the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board to mobilize research and practice to prevent child maltreatment. By purchasing the Celebrate Children Foundation license plate, you make a contribution to the children of Wisconsin. Your annual support helps ensure that parents in all Wisconsin communities have access to effective child abuse and neglect prevention education, programs and services. You can help show kids and families in Wisconsin how much you care by displaying your Celebrate Children Foundation license plate.

  • automobiles
  • motor homes (annual registration only)
  • motor trucks
    • 4,500, 6,000 or 8,000 pounds gross weight including dual purpose farm and dual purpose motor home
    • 12,000 pounds gross weight farm truck

Things you should know:

When you request Celebrate Children Foundation license plates, you pay

  • $25 annual donation that supports the Celebrate Children Foundation. The donation may be deductible if you itemize your income tax returns​​.​
  • $15 issuance fee or an annual $15 personalized plate fee, if requested
  • The regular registration fee for your vehicle if your current plates expire within three months or you have no plates

At each plate renewal you will pay the $25 donation and the regular registration fee for non-personalized Celebrate Children Foundation plates.

How to apply:

DMV Service Centers do not issue Special or Personalized License Plates you must mail in your application.

To apply for Celebrate Children Foundation license plates by mail, please send the following items:

  1. If the vehicle you wish to register with Celebrate Children Foundation license plates is already titled/registered in your name, send:
    • A copy of your Certificate of Registration or show the complete vehicle description on the Celebrate Children Foundation License Plate Information and Application MV2899
    • $25 Celebrate Children Foundation donation​
    • $15 issuance fee or $15 personalized plate fee
    • The annual registration fee if your current plates expire within the next three months or you have no plates
  2. If the vehicle is not titled/registered in your name, send:
    • A completed Wisconsin Title & License Plates Application MV1, or MV11 for dealer sales, including all fees
    • A completed MV2899
    • The Certificate of Title assigned to you by the seller​
    • $25 Celebrate Children Foundation donation​
    • $15 issuance fee or $15 personalized plate fee​
    • ​The annual registration fee if you do not have plates or your current plates expire within the next three months​​

Personalized license plates

Personalizing your Celebrate Children Foundation license plates is optional. A $15 personalized plate fee is required each year in addition to the $25 donation and regular annual registration fee. On the MV2899​, check which option you would like us to follow if your request is not available. Please allow an additional 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Visit personalized Plate Search​ to find out if your choice for a personalized license plate is available. DOT may refuse to issue, or may recall after issuance, a request that may be offensive to good taste or decency, misleading or conflicts with any other license plate. Old designs no longer available

If you currently have either of the old Celebrate Children Foundation license plates you may continue to use them if the registration is valid and the plates are in good condition. If you wish to exchange them for the new design, complete form Replacement License Plate Information and Application MV2118​ and mail it with $12 replacement plate fee. If your old Celebrate Children Foundation plates are illegible, please contact the Special Plates Unit for replacement information (see contact information below). Your replacement plates will have the new design.
