Local bridge – Low-risk project pilot

WisDOT, in collaboration with Wisconsin counties, is piloting a cost-saving delivery process. The $5 million pilot program intends to reduce cost by streamlining delivery and oversight processes on projects that have been identified as:

  • Not on the national highway system (NHS)
  • Having minimal to no environmental impacts
  • Having minimal or no right of way, utility or railroad impacts

The sixteen projects chosen were already approved in the Local Bridge program. Projects are funded with an 80 percent state and 20 percent local match. The Phase 1 pilot is now complete.
