All DMV Online Services will be unavailable on Sunday, August 20 from 2 to 6 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience.
The lien holder search application will display any lien holders for a vehicle and to whom the title was delivered (owner or lien holder). If no record is displayed for the vehicle identification number (VIN) entered, check
Title transfer search to see if a title was recently issued for the vehicle or
processing times and mailing information for applications currently being worked on.
Tips for using the lien holder search application:
- Do not use the letter "O" when entering in a VIN. Use the number "0."
- Do not use the letters "Q" or "I" when entering in a VIN as these letters are not used in standard VINs.
Full lien holder information, name, address and date the lien was listed in WisDOT records are listed under the lien holder name in the results.
Note: This WisDOT application is not a secure website. Personal information such as individual names, address, social security numbers, date of birth, etc. will not be displayed.
