Yes. Place it in your vehicle. The receipt is proof of registration until you receive your Certificate of Vehicle Registration.

What happens if I don't submit the paperwork?

Summary of statute: When an owner sells a vehicle, the owner should sign their title over to the new owner. Upon receipt of title, the new owner should promptly complete and submit an application to transfer the vehicle into their name. An owner who has delivered possession of the vehicle to the new owner and has complied with the provisions of this statute is not liable as owner for any damages thereafter resulting from operation of the vehicle.

What if the fees listed are incorrect?

The location where the vehicle is kept may affect tax or wheel tax due. Any person who gives a false or fictitious location where a vehicle is customarily kept may be fined not more than $200 or imprisoned not more than six months or both (section 341.60, WI stats.)
