Location
WIS 155, WIS 70 in St. Germain to Lake Street in Sayner, Vilas County
Overview
The existing pavement on WIS 155 from WIS 70 to Lake Street is deteriorating. Cross culverts are showing wear and many culvert pipes need repair or replacement to maintain effectiveness. Additionally, in some locations, ditches do not drain properly.
The objective of this project is to extend the life of the existing roadway and reduce future maintenance efforts and costs. Proposed improvements include:
- Resurfacing the roadway
- Widen paved shoulders
- Culvert repairs and replacements
- Install ditch infiltration trenches
- Regrade ditches
- Restore and upgrade pavement markings
- Thermoplastic snowmobile crossings
Traffic Impacts
Motorists should expect to encounter single lane closures with flagging operations for the duration of construction.
Access to side roads and driveways may be restricted for brief durations during paving operations. WisDOT staff will require that the contractor notify property owners 48 hours in advance of any closures.
Real Estate
Temporary Limited Easement (TLE) will be needed for inserting the liners of the existing culverts being repaired and for ditch grading operations. Highway Easement (HE) will be needed for replacing the culvert at the end of the project in Sayner. Any impacts with public and private land will require special coordination and purchased with special funding.
