Location
WIS 66, between Stevens Point Airport and County J (North), Portage County
Overview
WisDOT will be making improvements along six miles of WIS 66 from the Stevens Point Airport to the east junction of County J (North), including work on the two bridge decks crossing the Plover River near County Y. The roadway is currently exhibiting signs of deterioration in the form of alligator cracking, rutting and patching, and the bridge decks currently have areas of patches, cracks and spalling. The improvements, which consist of repaving this portion of WIS 66 and performing deck overlays on the two structure to extend the service life of the pavement and structures.
Traffic Impacts
During paving, WIS 66 will remain open to traffic with the use of daytime flagging operations. The Torun Road intersection with WIS 66 will need to be closed for several weeks during construction to make the necessary improvements. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to maintain one lane of traffic along WIS 66 during the proposed bridge work.
Access will be maintained to businesses and residences except for when the moving & paving operations are passing directly in front of those entrances. During those times, property owners will experience a short restriction in access. Overall, only minor delays should be expected for the traveling public during construction.
