US 141 (County Z to County R), Marinette County
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public feedback on the below design proposal for construction on US 141 in Marinette County. The purpose of this outreach is to obtain your input on the identified needs and proposed improvements along US 141 from 0.14 miles south of County Z to 0.22 miles south of County R in Marinette County. There will be no in-person public meeting due to the current health emergency. We appreciate your input and encourage you take a moment to review the project information and provide comment.
Project location
US 141 from 0.14 miles south of County Z to 0.22 miles south of County R in the town of Beecher and Pembine, Marinette County, Wis.
Project need
The purpose of the project is to improve the deteriorating pavement and extend the service life of the roadway. There are numerous transverse and longitudinal cracking throughout the project. The purpose also includes addressing the deficient curb ramps in the town of Pembine that are non-ADA compliant.
Proposed improvements
WisDOT is proposing a resurfacing-level improvement on 3.69 miles of US 141 in the project limits.
Improvements include:
- Milling 3 1/2” of the existing pavement and overlaying with 4 1/2” of asphaltic pavement
- Adding shoulder aggregate
- Beam guard replacement
- Replacing curb ramps in Town of Pembine
- Well abandonment
- Clearing and grubbing in railroad vision corners
- Centerline and shoulder rumble strips
- Pavement marking
Proposed schedule
- Project design: Winter 2021- Winter 2022
- Final Environmental Document: September 2021
- Final Plans: February 2023
- Construction currently scheduled: Summer/Fall 2023
Proposed traffic impacts
During construction, the roadway will be open to traffic. During construction, US 141 will be reduced to one lane of traffic using flagging operations. Work will also be completed using shoulder closures. During the curb ramp improvement work in the Town of Pembine, shoulder closures will be utilized, and a pedestrian detour will be provided. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained when no construction work is being done.
Real estate
Real estate will be acquired for improving the curb ramps in the town of Pembine, beam guard replacement, future access and maintenance along the west side of US 141 between County OO and Cemetery Road, and railroad crossing work at County OO and Sauld Street. A member of our real estate team will contact you if property is needed.
