Location
The proposed improvement project is on US 63 from US 10 to the east junction of WIS 29 in Pierce County.
Overview
The pavement on US 63 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Removing 1.25 inches of the existing pavement and placing 3.25 inches of new asphalt pavement.
- Replacing decks on three bridges.
- Replacing guardrail and several culverts.
- Cleaning ditches.
- Completing miscellaneous culvert repairs, culvert end wall treatments and all incidentals necessary to finish the work.
Real Estate
Small real estate acquisitions are anticipated to account for highway slope safety improvements and culvert work, and affected property owners will be notified by WisDOT when locations are finalized.
In This Together
Knowing construction impacts business, WisDOT has created the In This Together program to help business owners navigate construction.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2027.
Traffic Impacts
- For the resurfacing portion of the project, motorists will encounter daytime single-lane closures controlled by flagging.
- During replacement of the bridge decks and several deep culverts, US 63 will be closed.
- Detour route: US 10, WIS 65 and County J.
- Access will be maintained to businesses and residences during the detour.
