Location
WIS 48 between US 63 North in Cumberland and WIS 25 in the town of Stanfold, all in Barron County.
Overview
The existing asphalt pavement overlay, along with culverts and sections of curb and gutter, are showing signs of deterioration. To address these, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:
- Resurface the highway.
- Add centerline and shoulder rumble strips where appropriate.
- Replace deteriorated sections of curb and gutter.
- Complete maintenance work on culverts, including repairing separated joints, replacing detached or corroded apron end walls, lining pipes, placing riprap, performing ditching and grubbing near culvert ends, adding culvert markers and replacing all four wing walls of the Hickory Creek box culvert.
- Widen the existing three-foot paved shoulders to five feet.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2024.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, motorists can expect single-lane closures controlled by flagging.
