WIS 87 from 240 feet north of Minnesota Street in the city of St. Croix Falls north to 270th Avenue in the town of Cushing, all in Polk County.

Overv​iew

This project aims to address an undersized culvert at Big Rock Creek that is deteriorating and poorly positioned, other culverts in need of maintenance along the corridor and guardrail in need of updating. WisDOT is proposing to:

  • Replace the Big Rock Creek culvert with a single-span bridge.
  • Reconstruct the roadway approaches to the new bridge.
  • Clean, extend, line or replace culverts.
  • Replace some culvert end walls.
  • Install new guardrail to meet current crash standards.
  • Place riprap and new pavement marking.
  • Complete gravel shouldering.
  • Clear ditches.

Sched​​ule

Construction currently is scheduled for 2026.

Traffic Im​pacts

  • WIS 87 will be detoured during the Big Rock Creek culvert replacement. The detour route has not been selected.
  • The remaining work will be constructed under shoulder closures and daytime flagging operations.
    • Local traffic will be allowed within the work zone to access properties; however, WIS 87 will be closed at Big Rock Creek.
