WIS 100 (Mayfair Rd./Lovers Lane Rd.) Rehabilitations - Milwaukee County

WIS 100 (Mayfair Rd./Lovers Lane Rd.), from W. Burleigh Street to W. Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee County.

Overview

The purpose of the proposed project is to address the deteriorating road condition and decreased ride quality over two bridge structures along WIS 100 over the Menomonee River. The original structures were built in 1968. Since then, the bridges have had two overlays in 1986 and 2010, and are experiencing large areas of spalls and delamination. Additionally, the project proposes to resurface the segment of WIS 100 from W Burleigh Street to W Silver Spring Drive.

All proposed improvements include:

• Remove and replace two bridges along WIS 100 over the Menomonee River.
• The Milwaukee County Park’s Oak Leaf Trail crosses WIS 100 at the Menomonee River Parkway. At the request of both the City of Wauwatosa and Milwaukee County Parks, the team is studying a trail addition that would provide an alternate to crossing the existing six lanes of WIS 100 by providing an underpass at the north side of the bridge along the Menomonee River.
• Detour routes for the Oak Leaf Trail are under consideration, but closure of the trail is possible during construction.
• We are also investigating adding sidewalk to the west side of WIS 100 and the south side of WIS 190 along Currie Park.
• Concrete surface repair along WIS 100 bridges over the Little Menomonee River.
• Pavement resurfacing along WIS 100, from W Burleigh Street to W Silver Spring Drive.
• Upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities​ Act) standards.
• Upgrades to traffic signals, pavement marking and signing.

Traffic Impacts

​Options could include full closures and detours or staged construction with lane closures. Efforts will be made to minimize traffic impacts, including congestion, delays, and queuing. Impacts to transit may involve temporarily closing or relocating bus stops. Accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists will be provided as necessary.
