Location
Overview
WisDOT is proposing to resurface 4.4 miles of WIS 181 (76th Street), from Florist Avenue to County Line Road, in the City of Milwaukee.
Asphalt surfaces have a typical service life of 8 to 12 years, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The last resurfacing project completed on this section of WIS 181 was in 2008. The existing asphaltic pavement is showing signs of fatigue and failure. The asphalt surface is reaching the end of its service life.
As part of this project, the number of travel lanes in each direction will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes between Brown Deer Road and Calumet Road.
Proposed Improvements
- Roadway resurfacing
- Pedestrian safety enhancements
- New sidewalk installations
- Updated curb ramps
- Updated traffic signals
