WIS 190 (Capitol Dr) - Brookfield Rd to 124th St - Waukesha County

Overview

The purpose and need of the project is to address poor pavement riding characteristics and deteriorating pavement conditions along WIS 190 from Brookfield Road to N. 124th Street in Waukesha and Milwaukee County. The existing concrete pavement was last overlaid in 2012 and is scheduled for future repair as there are areas showing signs of cracking and joint deterioration.

The poor pavement riding characteristics will be addressed by milling off the existing asphalt overlay, performing base patching and joint repair, and overlying the underlying concrete pavement with a new 4-inch asphalt overlay. Pedestrian curb ramps throughout the project corridor will be updated to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Minor storm sewer and culvert improvements will be performed to address drainage issues in the project corridor; and new traffic signal detection loops and traffic cameras will be installed at all signalized intersections. Additionally, substandard guardrail and spot locations of deteriorating curb and gutter will be replaced within the project limits.

Other work will include a Thin Polymer Overlay (TPO) on the County YY (Pilgrim Road) bridge over Capitol Drive, as well as repairs to the long culvert under Capitol Drive, near intersection of 138th Street.
