Overview:
WisDOT is proposing to improve 2.12 miles of WIS 33 from the Milwaukee River to Summit Drive in Ozaukee County. The project will address the deteriorating pavement condition and improve traffic operations.
Proposed improvements:
- Mill and Overlay 2” of the existing pavement with 2” of new Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA)
- Update sidewalk curb ramps to meet ADA standards
- Addition of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at Sweetwater Boulevard
- New pavement markings
- Replace signal video detection at Foster Road intersection
Traffic Impacts:
Construction staging will be determined later in the design process but will likely occur in stages. Access to local traffic and emergency vehicles will be maintained. Lane closures will be communicated closely with local officials. Various intersections may be closed during some stages of construction. Short term detours during the day may be necessary for some roadway segments.
Schedule:
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2026.
