Project location
US 14 and Deming Way intersection, City of Middleton - Dane County
Project overview
The purpose of this project is to improve safety at the intersection of US 14 and Deming Way. This existing signalized intersection has a lack of sight distance for left turners that was likely contributing to left turners failing to yield to oncoming vehicles. The signal phasing was changed to protected-only left turns on US 14 in June of 2020 to reduce these types of crashes.
The proposed roadway improvements include lengthening the left turn lanes on US 14 and Deming Way to better accommodate the signal phasing for protected-only left turns on US 14. The curb ramps will also be upgraded to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
