Project location
WIS 39 (WIS 23 to Hollandale village limits), Mineral Point to Hollandale - Iowa County
Project overview
Wisconsin Department of Transportation is currently proposing a pavement replacement project on this segment of WIS 39. The proposed work includes:
- Mill and replacement of 4 inches of HMA pavement and shoulder gravel
- Addition of high friction surface treatment on the reverse curve segment east of County D
- Guardrail replacement
- Pavement markings
The purpose of the proposed project is to address the deteriorating pavement condition and ride quality along the roadway. The Safety & Operations Certification Document noted that the reverse curve east of County D should receive a high friction surface treatment due to snow and ice crashes. The high friction surface improves the friction coefficient to reduce run off the road crashes during slippery conditions.
