The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public feedback on the below design proposal for construction on WIS 47 in Outagamie County. The purpose of this outreach is to obtain your input on the identified needs and proposed improvements. We appreciate your input and encourage you take a moment to review the project information and provide comment.
Location
Approximately 8.1 miles from Burdick Street in the village of Black Creek to the north Outagamie County line in the town of Cicero, Outagamie County, Wisconsin.
Proposed improvements
This is a resurfacing-level improvement. Proposed improvements include:
- Mill/overlay of the existing asphalt pavement
- Guardrail replacements
- Culvert replacement
- Shoulder aggregate
- Pavement markings
- Storm sewer repairs
- Replacement of curb ramps for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
Traffic impacts
WIS 47 will be open to traffic throughout most of the construction.
- Traffic control in the form of flagging operations will be used to close one lane of WIS 47 at a time as necessary.
- A short-term detour for the culvert pipe replacements may be in place.
- Shoulder and sidewalk closures will be needed for curb ramp improvements and repair work.
- Final traffic impacts will be determined during final design.
Schedule
- Additional public outreach will take place in fall of 2022
- Design is on-going and will continue through winter of 2023
- Construction is currently scheduled for 2024
Right of way needs
Real estate acquisition is anticipated for the proposed improvements. Exact locations and acreages will be identified as the design progresses. Owners of properties requiring right-of-way or temporary grading easement acquisition will be contacted directly once improvement plans are finalized.

WisDOT recognizes that businesses located in work zones have special needs. WisDOT's "In This Together" program is offered to business and community leaders as an idea source as they plan for road construction in their area. On the

WisDOT has created a public handout for the project. Please feel free to download, print and share with anyone who does not have access to this website. The handout includes a prepaid mailer for public comments.
