US 63 (Branch Rush River Bridge and Spruce Street Intersection), village of Baldwin - St. Croix County

These p​rojects are on US 63 in the St. Croix County village of Baldwin.

Overv​iew

The bridge over the Branch Rush River is exhibiting signs of deterioration. In addition, vehicles traveling south on US 63 frequently encounter stopped vehicles waiting to turn left onto Spruce Street, resulting in a high frequency of rear-end crashes. To address these, ​the Wisconsin Department of Transportation projects include:

  • Replacing the bridge.​​
  • Adding a center turn lane at Spruce Street.

Schedule

Construction currently is scheduled for 2025.

Traffic Impa​cts

During construction:

  • US 63 will remain open to traffic.
    • Motorists will use a temporary bypass built west of the existing highway and a temporary connection to Spruce Street.
  • Access will be maintained to properties in the work zone.
