WIS 23 (Wisconsin River Bridge to US 14), Spring Green - Sauk County
Project overview
Plans to improve 2.5 miles of WIS 23 between the Wisconsin River Bridge and US 14 in Spring Green are currently in design. The proposed project includes resurfacing the highway by removing 4 inches of asphaltic pavement and replacing that with 4 inches of new asphaltic pavement, subgrade repairs near Madison St., updating curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, replacing a railroad crossing surface, replacing end walls on a culvert north of Old River Road, and installing safety rumble strips on the 55-mph section of the highway. The existing WIS 23 design will be utilized for the resurfacing of the roadway.

Traffic impacts/detours
Traffic will be maintained using flaggers for the majority of the project. WIS 23 will be closed to through traffic between Hoxie Street and Jefferson Street for a 400 foot section of roadway needing subgrade improvements.
