Purpose and Need
The main purpose of both projects is to improve the deteriorating pavement on WIS 47. The last resurfacing projects on this stretch of highway took place in 2000 and 2001. Since that time, cracking has become visible in the existing asphaltic pavement. Field reviews of the cross culverts also showed insufficient structures that affect the flow of water. This project will ensure that an acceptable roadway surface is created for the traveling public and that the drainage structures will continue to function properly.
Proposed Improvements
The proposed improvements for the .5 mile urban resurfacing project in the village of Black Creek scheduled for 2024 include:
Schedule
- Rural resurfacing will take place in 2022 (finished).
- Urban resurfacing is scheduled for 2024.
Traffic impacts
WIS 47 will be open to traffic throughout a majority of construction. Traffic control in the form of flagging operations will be used to close one lane at a time as necessary for paving operations.
Other Planned Project
Resurface-level improvement of WIS 54 from Park Avenue in Shiocton to French Road in Seymour. Construction scheduled for 2023.
See WIS 54 project website for details.
Resurface-level improvement on WIS 47 from Burdick Street in the village of Black Creek to the north Outagamie County line in the town of Cicero. Construction scheduled for 2024.
